Blueprint was selected by Samaritas, a Michigan faith-based nonprofit owner and operator, to advise and facilitate the sale of its Continuing Care Retirement Community campus in Grand Rapids. Following 50 years of providing senior care services, Samaritas has a renewed focus on creating a holistic service experience through four core areas of impact, including child and family services, behavioral health, refugee services and affordable housing.
Having proudly served the Grand Rapids and surrounding communities for over 35 years, Samaritas gradually expanded and renovated the campus since its original construction in 1977, with the most recent introduction of 24 independent living cottages between 2013 and 2015. Additionally, the 40-acre property consists of 148 independent living apartments, 17 assisted living units, a 60-unit memory care community, and a 125-bed skilled nursing and long-term care facility.

Blueprint’s direct marketing campaign resulted in multiple competing offers to acquire the property, culminating with the ultimate selection of Optalis Healthcare, a leader in post-acute rehabilitation and long-term care across Michigan and Ohio. Optalis contracted with StoryPoint Group, another premier Michigan senior living provider, to manage the independent living community on the campus, formerly known as “The Terraces.”

Blueprint advised the Samaritas Board of Directors through each transaction phase, working closely with its leadership team and legal counsel to ensure and deliver another successful operational transition and a smooth closing process.
